I’m All Thumbs?

A new keyboard (designed in Scotland) is attempting to challenge the QWERTY-configuration by replacing it with the KALQ thumb-type keyboard (which might be both a natural progression and/or an approach to capitalize on the texting-generation whose orientation is based upon utilizing the thumb for said communication).

In light of the on-going hacking of high-profile Twitter accounts, the firm is (supposedly) set to roll-out a two-step authentication process (arguably, long overdue). Independent of this proposed solution, it begs a bigger question: if / when a more universally secure solution (is that even possible) will be created that’ll essentially replace passwords (e.g., retinal / fingerprint scan, etc.)

Big Bets.

Google Glass is a big-bet that (if successful) could add billions of dollars to the firm’s value… which is fine. However, given the growing disparity between the haves and the have-nots in America (and much of the OECD) if nobody can afford to purchase them will it matter?

Napster’s Return?

Napster.fm launched (to little fanfare) recently. Yet, given that it is an Open Source / Social Music Player that can be hosted virtually anywhere (by anyone) it’ll be interesting to see if said service gets slammed akin to what the forefather of P2P was hammered for: circumventing DRM (especially in OECD nations).
