Crossing Generations.

For all their recent challenges / failings, etc. (e.g, Smartphones / Tablets) there is one thing that can be said about Microsoft: rare is it for a firm to not only topple so many rivals (recall Netscape as but one of many examples) but to be able to do so across a wide-swath of an industry and for more than one generation is an impressive record indeed (albeit, arguably, not always having done so above board in the eyes of the DOJ amongst others).

Ticker-tape Tweets.

Old is new as an updated, retro ticker-tape machine (built on a 19th Century design) has begun printing out tweets (via Twitter).

Obviously…

Remember when Ma Bell was deregulated in order to ‘spur the free-hand of the market / innovation, etc?’ Welcome (again) to what supposedly the Telecommunication Industry was deregulated for: Monopolies.

As America continues to fall further behind in high-speed (home) broadband access, the enclosed report just adds insult to injury (aside from being woefully apparent for anyone paying attention for the past several years now).

An ‘Endless’ Tap.

As America’s (and, the world’s) integration with technology marches on and the Orwellian-reality of Big Brother watching continues to be revealed – is it worth asking: If life is imitating art we have the capacity to envision otherwise – why aren’t we?

LinkedIn’s Devolution?

LI’s decision to drop their age-requirement from 18 to 13 is bound to cause an uproar. Leaving how paramount it is to protect children aside (if that’s even possible) while there are indeed aspiring business / entrepreneurial professionals, etc. (under the age of 18) this move seems more at going the way of Facebook than anything else. Unless, of course, LI is on to something that nobody else is aware of?

Questionable…

Unless the collective brain-trust (does this include and/or exclude Ballmer?) knows something that the overall market does not (i.e., consumers who have thus far essentially rejected the Microsoft-Nokia alliance) the rumors of a Windows-based, Samsung handset make little sense.

With ‘Friends’ Like That…

Going right to the source, i.e., posting to Mark Z’s Wall is certainly one way to get Facebook’s attention (especially, when they’re essentially ignoring a security issue and the person that’s raising it, etc.)

Me (Us) Too: Redux!

If the enclosed report is true, another (potential) round of patent litigation (aside from continued accusations of blatant copying by Samsung will in all likely ensue)… It’s not an iWatch (even though one has yet to debut) but the comparisons will be inevitable.
