Bill 2.0?

The Tech Industry being no stranger to rumors and innuendo… given the extent that Microsoft copied Apple wouldn’t seem (somewhat) befitting that Bill Gates returned to Redmond in order to ‘save‘ his firm?

Losing Ground…

Japan’s largest mobile carrier (DoCoMo) lost a record number of subscribers last month. Moreover, the firm’s marketshare continues to slide… which, metaphorically, represents Japan’s biggest dilemma: forestalling economic and social reform…

Long story short, OECD nations continue to languish due to inept plutocracies that serve a finite, select group of special interests… NTT (like AT&T / Verizon in America, etc.) are not interested in innovation… they are entrenched / focused on protecting their domains (unfortunately, largely, at the expense of the greater good).

Vic-Tor-y?

Leaving dubious and/or illegal activities aside, it is good to know that there is still hope regarding maintaining some semblance of one’s on-line privacy…

Cubism Redux.

Self-assembling cubes have been developed by MIT… aka ‘M-Blocks’ that could be used for a variety of purposes including disaster relief (amongst others).

Governmental censorship is (at best) a highly controversial issue. Moreover, in light of the recent NSA surveillance exposure (perhaps even more so) as Apple’s removal of a VPN-app (in their PRC iTunes Store) seemingly adds fuel to this on-going debate.

(Heart’s) Fluttering.

Kudos to Flutter (and, by extension, Paul Graham / Y-Combinator) for reportedly being purchased (for around $40 million) by Google. With roughly 1 million users across more than 90 nations this acquisition looks to be geared towards supporting (Google) Glass as an application that could be potentially bundled… (and/or perhaps said purchase was a flanking move against Microsoft’s Kinect)…

Booting Bill (Too?)

If the enclosed report (rumor?) is indeed true, booting Bill Gates as Microsoft’s Chairman would clearly thrust the firm into the post-PC era (whether ready or not?)

It’s Alive!

Scientists have used a lightening bolt to charge a mobile phone… which raises the question: were they able to ‘friend’ Ben Franklin too?

Fait Accompli?

Perhaps where the NSA (and other governmental organizations) failed France will succeed? (at protecting end-users’ privacy).

(Social Media) Diplomacy.

Kudos to America and Iran for at least holding a phone conversation… aside, from an essentially closed nation’s President making use of Social Networking (which could be a positive step towards re-opening said nation to a greater, positive role within the world itself).
