Hack This!

In light of the recent reports of the NSA snooping on (many of) Americas leading Tech firms, Yahoo will now encrypt all data being transferred. Optimistically, this has the potential for being a good move regarding protecting Civil Liberties; pessimistically, if the NSA has access / cracks this encryption said point is moot.

The Best Ad Ever?

Google’s ‘Reunion’ (Ad) really needs no further introduction (arguably, it’s that good!)

Authentic?

If the enclosed report is true, various departments within America’s government have been hacked by (the group) Anonymous… in a supposed on-going campaign that began almost a year ago. In light of the (recent) NSA whistleblowing revelations, it’s a bit of a challenge to discern whether this is a actually an orchestrated countermove (i.e., propaganda) or an authentic report?

Ransom Spam.

As if there’s already not enough nonsense / risk, etc. to opening one’s email in-box… now there’s ‘Ransom Spam…‘ Which sounds like a bad infomercial, “Ransom Spam with 35% more __________ (fill-in-the-blank). But wait, there’s more. Act now and ______ (fill-in-the-blank).”

Instagram Times 3 Equals…

It’s good to see that a Start-up has spurred being bought by Facebook (despite the ridiculous amount of money being foregone). Towards that end, only time will tell if Snapchat’s gamble on taking the company through an IPO will pay-off?

Round ?

The on-going row between the two largest Smartphones makers is headed back to court (again) for the nth time? In short, as long as the marketshare lead is at-stake, expect this cycle to essentially be a ‘cost-of-doing-business-expense’ no matter how incredibly large the on-paper settlement figures are reported to be.

The Great ‘Curve’.

Count Apple now as the second (major) Smartphone maker to be developing handsets with curved glass… If true, the firm’s squarely in the ‘me-too’ category as this is one instance where they’ll be playing catch up to their main market rival (in this space).

Kno (Inside).

Let’s hope that Intel’s acquisition of Kno (their software makes digitized books interactive) spearheads this technology to become more widely available.

(Virtual) Thievery.

On the heels of a report (released this past week) that their network was / is vulnerable to an attack, a virtual wallet (i.e., repository) for Bitcoin(s) was reportedly hacked – prior to when said report was released. Interestingly enough (which should come as NO surprise) given the dubious nature of this incident, it supposedly also will not be reported to the local authorities (which raises further suspicions about theft itself).
