Truth’s Stranger Than Fiction.
If the latest revelation regarding the NSA’s on-going surveillance and the agencies’ tactics is true, it pretty much sums up the degree(s) to which America’s government will stoop in the post-9/11 era (which in light of the paranoia of the 1950’s should really come as little and/or no surprise).

(‘net) Wind-Talkers.
In light of their (tech) contemporaries / rivals, etc. claiming to do so, Microsoft (pretty much – per the usual) has stated the ‘me-too’ (approach) regarding increasing ‘net encryption in the aftermath of the NSA surveillance disclosures. Whether true, implemented and/or effective or not is TBD.

Fighting ‘Terror’ Malware-Style.
If the enclosed report is true, the NSA reportedly infected 50,000 networks with malware. However, egregious his whistleblowing was made out to be (by the Mass Media) perhaps the General Public should give pause to the fact that Edward Snowden’s disclosures might’ve actually been much more heroic than have (obviously) been reported?

Digital Duffers!
GolfSight just might’ve taken Google Glass to a whole new level: think augmented reality for golf aficionados (whereas you can now have a Terminator-style visual readout while on the links). Now whether someone’s game improves or not is yet to be determined!

Where?
“I’m calling from 35,000 feet…” (With the droning howl of the plane and fellow passengers scowling intensely…) Let’s hope that the possibility / discussion regarding the use of mobile phones on commercial airplanes is just that.

Tribute.
And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country.
My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man. – JFK.
‘net-sorship.
The creator of the Worldwide Web (i.e., www) believes (arguably, rightfully so) that ‘the democratic nature of the net is threatened by a “growing tide of surveillance and censorship”‘ (which might be the understatement of the year… putting it mildly).

Cop(a)ying.
$600M plus an additional $290M is a lot of money. Nevertheless, akin to how the DOJ went after Microsoft (regarding how Redmond essentially ripped off / squeezed out Netscape) Samsung’s fines are much the same i.e., the cost of doing business for playing catch-up to Apple’s products (most notably, the iPhone and iPad) as the company reported $7.5B from June 2010 through June 2012 in revenues (which breaks down to roughly 0.00118666666667) when said fines are divided by said revenues.

‘Shipped’ Not ‘Sold’
Samsung Gear: Hit or hype? In short, there is obviously a big difference between shipping 800,000 units versus selling 800,000 units. Moreover, given the nationalism regarding purchasing homegrown products it’d be curious to determine of those units shipped how many were shipped / sold domestically versus globally?
