Console-free.

Sony’s planned move allowing PlayStation Now subscribers to play games without requiring a console is an excellent step towards opening their platform to third-party vendors (i.e., applications that run on Smartphones and/or Tablets) which could be a harbinger for Microsoft and Nintendo to follow suit.

You’re Screwed!

Okay, maybe not exactly. Nevertheless, if the enclosed report is true, visitors to Yahoo! (yes, yahoo.com) since 12/30/13 may have been infected by malware via the firm’s own servers (in fact, said issue may have actually begun earlier than the end of the month no less!) In sum, for all the corners that the company has reportedly turned, this is yet another in a long-list of moments whereas countless end-users just might be thinking that Yahoo is just not worth the hassle to use any longer (be it their email service which is cluttered with spammers / their content which has been marginal for some time now and now malware being potentially served-up by just a simple website visit!)

‘Glass’ Integration.

Hyundai’s planned integration of Google Glass into their next-generation of automobiles is another sign that wearable technology continues to come of age / move towards becoming more ubiquitous, etc. Nevertheless, let’s hope that said step will not be another distraction for drivers thereby making it more dangerous to utilize than otherwise.

Big Brother’s Tentacles…

If anyone thought that the NSA-gate (if you will) allegations were just a story for 2013 – think again… the latest bombshell is that the organization is already well into the process of developing a ‘code-cracking quantum computer’ to ‘break the encryption that keeps messages secure.’

Framework.

While the focus (up until this point in time) has largely been on what the ‘hardware’ (i.e., actual glasses might look like) enclosed is a sketch / an outline of potentially how the actual applications that one might employ with Google Glass would look to any given end-user.

Scam-chat?

It’s barely 2 days into 2014 and the latest (as of yet fully unconfirmed) report of another hacking has come to light… this time around it’s supposedly Snapchat and reportedly 4.6 million users’ data. While the firm is dismissing the threat of end-users information being exploited whatever the end-result may be this could be more than a blimp on the firm’s track record if said hack evolves (okay, devolves) into a more serious data breech.

The ‘Empire’ Strikes Back?

If the enclosed report is true (that the NSA can turn an iPhone into a spying device) citizens / consumers, etc. the world over are essentially a part of 1984 (as the NSA looks to make being a volunteer in this cryptic web they’ve weaved a moot point!)

Access, Get Your Access Here!

The BBC is reporting that one of their network servers was hacked and access to it was up-for-sale on the black market (which might be a first in the activities of cyber-criminals regarding malicious intent).

In This Corner…

Three East Asian ‘chat-apps’ (WeChat, Line and KakaoTalk) are not only jockeying for supremacy throughout the entire region but are also making inroads against Facebook as they all offer a competitive (and viable) alternative to US-based players within this space.
