Anti-Monopoly Probe.

It shouldn’t come as any real surprise that Microsoft is being investigated for anti-monopoly (business) practices in China… what does come as a (bit of a) surprise is how long the PRC took to get around to conducting said investigation.

Beijing Calling…

A raid and/or an ‘unannounced’ visit? Depending upon the source, it could be either as Microsoft’s recent (negative) press woes in China continue…

Loca-TOR?

In light of Putin’s on-going crackdown on Civil Liberties, it should come as no real surprise that Russian officials have announced a contest (open to Russians only) to fund proposals for cracking the Tor network.

Proprietary Gear.

Amazon’s ‘Fire’ is clearly the missing-link (for the firm) regarding how they’ve lacked the ability to push their content via a dedicated (hardware) device.

‘Get a Grip’

Apple’s Tablet dominance is slipping (which should really come as little / no surprise given all of the ‘me-too’ alternatives that have entered the market space since said devices’ introduction).

Got Bandwidth?

Going Mobile.

More people are now accessing the Internet via a mobile device in China than a more traditional route (i.e., a PC) which should really come as no surprise. The other issue that should also come as no surprise is the degree that Microsoft is working via playing catch-up in order to push as many of their Windows Phone devices to low-to-mid-tier consumers in developing nations in order to potentially gain a foothold in the Mobile Revolution (which is / will far surprise the PC Revolution as far as it relates to the Internet).

Running the ‘Gam-blet’

If the firm can break the impasse on game-access, Nvidia’s Shield Tablet (powered by Android) with an optional controller could be the first series ‘shot-across-the-bow’ for taking this platform out of the domain of game consoles.

Pushing Back.

Dark Mail (as profiled) is an earnest effort to circumvent NSA-snooping (in the post-Snowden era) whereas privacy concerns are paramount (despite the unfortunate overall degrees of global, public apathy / indifference, etc.) In sum, civil societies rise and fall based upon civil liberties… and, the path that’s been undertaken post-9/11 has been (unfortunately) oriented to the latter (not the former)…
