Not Done Yet.

Microsoft’s decision not to dump their ‘low-end’ phones proves (at least) the following: one) the firm is still planning on leveraging Nokia’s brand (which was a dominant player in developing markets; and, two) the company is seemingly still attempting to be ‘all-things-to-everyone’ which is a major reason why the company has been a laggard in a number of markets; products; services and technologies.

Fin-Cam.

For those who’ve waited for researchers / scientists to mount a camera on the back of a shark (in order to better track this amazing creature’s habits) the wait is over. Now, whether or not humanity can actually reverse their continued (utterly tragic and inexcusable) decline / destruction is another matter entirely.

Prioritizing Security?

While it does sound admirable and ‘the right thing to do’ given how the firm rigged results based upon key words, etc. it seems like a formality that Google’s announcement whereas the firm will prioritize secure websites will (at some juncture) run into problems be it seen and/or unforeseen.

Primate DRM.

Yes, that’s right. An endangered crested black macaque that reported snapped a selfie is the center of a dispute regarding DRM, public domain and ownership, etc. What’s absurd about this entire ‘controversy’ is the whole issue revolving ownership in and as far as human kind’s orientation towards the natural world and the continued negative impact we (as a species) have on the environment.

‘Behind Us’

The aforementioned statement could be taken a number of ways (three of which come to mind):

A. True. BlackBerry’s worst days are actually behind the firm.

B. False. The firm’s best days are actually over.

C. Both. For the idealists that are still paying attention to this once mighty having fell far giant.

Sunk?

Google’s mystery barge is apparently not immune to just being sold for scrap (outright) vs. embodying the (supposed) bold initiatives to showpiece some of their new technology (including Glass)… that was the rumored brainchild of why the firm purchased said vessels to begin with.

Tracked.

Add wearable technology to the (seemingly ever-expanding) list of ways in which unsuspecting end-users can be tracked (and potentially subject to malware, etc.)

Long Overdue.

In today’s real news: America’s (largely, do nothing but bicker in a partisan-fashion) government actually cooperated and shockingly passed legislation (unanimously no less) allowing the nation’s (beleaguered) consumers to legally unlock their mobile phones… Now, if more pressing issues such as a deteriorating infrastructure; stubborn unemployment, diminished societal expectations, etc. could actually be addressed that would be an actual story worth touting!

The List Grows…

Add USB’s as yet another piece of technology that can be hacked (which, unfortunately, should really come as little and/or no real surprise). Nevertheless, it is worth noting that the greater question (regarding this issue) is how long this has been known and, for that matter, why it was not studied / reported sooner?

Carrying On.

Engineers have taken a step towards developing a robot that learned to keep going with a broken leg (as it reported reprogrammed itself within less than two minutes).
