With more than 2/3 of all governmental requests for individual / end-user data originating from within America (aside from continuing to increase globally) two points are worth noting: one) how unaware the vast majority of people are the world-over regarding this reality; and; two) the implications that this is having on civil liberties (and/or the lack thereof).
Granted, in the Facebook-era whereas Social Networking has become ubiquitous, end-users also ultimately are contributing their data (for mining). However, that also calls into question how pre-existing Public Domain laws are in all probability obsolete regarding this relatively new phenomenon.
